In your craft kit you have a piece of cardstock with some string at the top, a page with a chalice and Jesus in a circle and a bag of sticker jewels. You will also need some glue and some crayons or markers. Feel free to use other craft elements you have at home as well!
When we receive the Eucharist, we don't receive a symbol of bread, we receive Jesus who makes Himself food for our souls. After the priest says the blessing or consecration the bread becomes Jesus himself. He is "hidden" in the Eucharist, but it is all Jesus.
We invite you to make a first communion banner! Cut out the chalice and the host. Paste the chalice at the bottom of the construction paper. Fold over the host so that when you open it up, the picture of Jesus is underneath! Then glue the host above the chalice. Decorate your image, write your name on the banner and bring it with you on the day of your first communion!
Watch this video below! Be sure to review it before your 1st Holy Communion! Masks are optional at Mass. If wearing a mask you will want to practice how to lower the mask while carefully holding on to the Sacred Host. ALSO be sure to click on "the day of" section to answer all your questions about the day of your First Communion!!
Our Father, who are in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you
among women,
And blessed is the fruit
of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
Glory be to the Father
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever.
Amen.
